Mels Dockside Restaurant in Panama City Beach

Although this was our first time deep sea fishing, it wasn't as enjoyable as we initially had expected. We understand that we pay a discounted price to fish with others, but it really feels uncomfortably crowded. We couldn't move around much since we're sandwiched close together and our lines kept getting tangled. The first 2 spots were good for others, but the last few stops yielded no fish whatsoever. Many of us went home without any fish. It also states on the website that half the trip would be travel and the other half would be fishing. Our trip felt more like 70% travel and 30% fishing. We left about 15 minutes late, and the total travel time was about 3 hours. We stopped fishing much sooner than expected and arrived at the dock about 15 minutes earlier than our trip time indicated. Not as great as what others have claimed.

There were 7 of us (3) children ages 9.7 & 5. We all loved going to Shell Island searching for shell, and watching dolphins. Capt. John let each child steer the boat for a few minutes which they enjoyed. Friendly helpful staff! Answered all our questions about what we were seeing and about other things to do in the area! Highly recommend! Very reasonably priced for the adventure! We went on a Sunday morning trip (6/14/2020).

Definitely a place to go when on vacation. If your into deep sea fishing or visiting shell Island or swimming with dolphins or even just bored and want to go watch the boats come in

It's awesome, they need to take us to the fish. Enjoyed the boat ride all we caught was grunt fish. They just didn't stay long in one spot. It was my first deep sea fishing trip. I did catch 1 fish and my husband caught two.

Many people caught zero fish. Expensive 5 hr fishing trip coming home with nothing. Some fish were unclaimed after we docked and instead of offering them to some of us that caught nothing ( never even got a nibble or bite), I overheard deck hands saying “ these are going in my ice chest”. Overall very low number of fish caught for the whole boat... thought deep sea fishing charters were supposed to find fish for paying customers to catch. No instructions prior to fishing until a deck hand noted I wasn’t fishing yet and was then told how to use the equipment. Not fun at all. Waste of time and money.

First time using Capt. Anderson's. Caught fish nothing big. Very slow fishing and we did the longer and further out night fishing. Used squid for bait and from my previous experiences it works ok but the best I have seen is a minnow as bait works really well. Seen several private charters come in that done really good. May try it again don't know.

Took us out near end of season and was still able to locate our limit !!Deck hand was incredible at his job and kept us baited !!Down fall, Older boat. Diesel engines put out more fumes than a more fuel efficient engine. Sucked when fishing

If you like high-speed fishing with a whole bunch of people all around you and constant entanglement with fishing lines this is your place the crew was 5 star

Really fun time caught a stringer full of fish. Also love the fact that the boat is big enough to escape the sun and go into the air conditioned cabin. This boat has it all even a short order cook who served all types of beverages.

I highly recommend Captain Anderson’s 5 hours deep sea fishing! We had Wes as our deck hand and when I say he was phenomenal.... I mean it! He made all of us feel so comfortable and he was extremely quick at untangling the lines or removing the fish. I was real skeptical about going here after reading the reviews and spending days not catching anything on the piers. Honestly, I don’t know how anyone could give this place less than a 5 star! Shame on you! This company takes pride in what they do and the Captain moves around to help make sure everyone is catching fish! We can’t wait to come back and take the 10 hour trip with you all! Thank you for an unforgettable trip!

Paid 240 dollars for 4 people, caught 1 fish, no other bites. Very dissapointed.

We took the trip to Shell Island with them and had a great time. Nick and Nathan were our crew and made the ride to and from enjoyable. If you haven't been to Shell Island its a must do..like being on your own island in paradise..pure white sand and crystal clear water..
